AWR Foodshare

For those of us who will enjoy a feast with the family this Christmas, the idea of ‘rescuing’ food might be a strange one. For a team of over 100 volunteers and 2 part time staff who pull together to deliver L.8 million meals per year to those in need, it’s an important part of achieving a vision that no one goes hungry in our region. SS&A Albury has committed 520,000 per year for three years to Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare, a not-for-profit charity that forms the logistic centre of food distribution in support of many other non-for-profit agencies. AWR FoodShare rescues over 47.8 tonnes of food locally from being wasted every month from various suppliers, predominately supermarkets. The food is then distributed to agencies such as Betty’s Place and St Vincent De Paul. (more…)
