“Don’t Be a Goose” is an awareness campaign developed by the Albury Liquor Accord to help create a safer community for everyone by promoting positive patron behaviour in licensed venues.
The tone is clear: keep it fun, keep it chill, and don’t be the person who ruins it for everyone.
Why the Campaign Exists
The “Don’t be a Goose” campaign aligns three key safety initiatives under one unified message:
1. Bar from One, Bar from All: If a patron is barred from one participating licensed venue, they are automatically barred from all Albury Liquor Accord venues.
2. Ask for Angela: Patrons who feel unsafe, threatened or uncomfortable can discreetly ask venue staff for “Angela” to seek help.
3. Drink Spiking Test Kit: If something doesn’t look right, feel right or taste right, patrons can ask venue staff for a drink spiking test kit. No judgement.
The campaign overarching objectives are:
• Helps reduce alcohol and drug related harm
• Improve patrons and venue staff safety
• Create a shared responsibility
• Promote positive behaviour
“Don’t Be a Goose” isn’t about being heavy-handed. It’s about being unified.
One message. One standard. One safer community.
If everyone plays their part, the only thing getting kicked out is the goose behaviour.
And honestly, that’s the one thing nobody invited anyway.
